A truly great north run

A WELBURN man completed the Great North Run to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief - despite running on a sprained ankle.

Bob Pietrowski, 50, who is a partner in David Begg Associates, a pharmaceutical consultancy, was taking part in the run for the fourth time.

He said: "I tripped over a discarded drinks bottle on the road about seven miles into the race and went over on my ankle. But I was determined to finish the race and managed a time of two hours and four minutes, so it wasn't too bad.

"A couple of my colleagues have been helped by Macmillan so I am pleased to support the charity."
