Omniscience

THIS human body's not good enough

For the fire that dwells within.

I wish to be all things at once;

To be finally free from sin.

Without a physical form, my mind

Could wander time and space,

Being one with everything

At the spirit's timeless pace.

What was once my very being

Could sing a beautiful song -

Appearing as pure energy

To help mankind along.

I'd be the spark of inspiration

For Percy Shelley's pen,

I'd be the all-enlightening worm

For the monk practising Zen.

The possibility of this stage

Is innate in everyone:

Omniscience being the end of the path

That we've only just begun.
