Dale will not be denied

Scarborough Beckett League Division C

Thornton-le-Dale 150 all out

Kirkbymoorside II 91 all out

ON a greenish wicket, Dale's openers did well to put on 69 for the first wicket.

William Anderson was the first to fall after a solid knock of 38. His partner Colin Pickering made 36, while Stuart Hill was another major contributor, making 27.

Dale were satisfied with their total of 150 on a pitch which offered encouragement to the bowlers.

For Kirkbymoorside, S Trousdale took 4 for 27 and S Gibson took 3 for 25. Fresh from his nine-wicket haul against high-flying Nawton Grange the previous week, M Gollaglee was on form again, taking 3 for 34.

In reply, Kirkby looked to be cruising at 69 for 2, before the batting collapsed spectacularly.

Though M Foster made 26 and P Ward scored 22, Dale's bowlers took control.

Lee Oliver took 4 for 32, Thomas Spencer took 2 for 22, and, after a rain delay, Colin Pickering capped a fine individual performance as he mopped up the tail, taking three wickets for just one run.
