Park are buried as unbeaten record falls

Burythorpe 81 for 4 beat

Duncombe Park 65 all out by 16 runs

THE final undefeated record in the three divisions fell as Burythorpe picked up a valuable win against high-flying Park.

Andrew Milner (28) and Peter Aconley (15) put on 44 for the first wicket for the home team, but Park bowlers Ogunshakin (2 for 14) and J Lewis (1 for 23) stuck to their task well. Paul Milner played a valuable innings of 20 not out for Burythorpe.

Burythorpe's two opening bowlers, Neil Porteus (2 for 12) and Brian Aconley (2 for 17) were in great form as Park struggled to 31 for 4 after eight overs, with danger men Brian Leckenby, Peter Kent and Peter Humpleby all back in the pavilion. With more good bowling from Peter Aconley (2 for 8) and excellent fielding, Burythorpe's total proved to be more than enough.

Malton and Old Malton 44 for 1

beat Lockton 43 for 7 by 9 wkts

Lockton never recovered from Tony Linsley's opening burst, when he claimed 4 for 6 to leave Lockton reeling at 11 for 6. Duncan Steele (17 not out) carried his bat and was the only player to show any resistance. Malton had no problems reaching the total as Gary Hall hit 23 not out and Dave Bradshaw 15 not out.

Pickering 94 for 1 beat

Cropton 90 for 8 by 9 wkts

A good start by Cropton produced 33 quick runs with, Mark Aconley (19) prominent. But Mark Shepherd (3 for 9) picked up three wickets in one over to turn the game. K R Aconley (21) improved Cropton's situation, but further wickets slowed the scoring. Aussie Joel Crosswell produced a tight spell of 1 for 15. In reply, Pickering were always on top with Colin Frank (52 not out) and Mark Shepherd (21) putting on 71 for the first wicket.

Harome 121 for 4 beat

Kirkbymoorside 117 for 5 by 6 wkts

James Greenlay (1 for 24) and Graeme Strickland (1 for 14) bowled tightly for Harome. Martin Thompson (29) upped the tempo with two big sixes and Richard Clark (34 not out) took Kirkby to a respectable total.

Opener Oliver Metcalfe (41) was the mainstay for Harome, with Dave Greenlay (16) and Phil Marwood (18) providing support. Charlie Marwood and Jodie Robson also reached double figures as Harome eased to victory. Howard Mudd (4 for 24), bowling off his short run due to injury, was impressive for Kirkby.

The match between Duncombe Park and Lockton was called off due to rain.
