Firm in court for polluting stream

A NORTH Yorkshire firm which admitted polluting a Ryedale beck has been fined £10,000.

E. Harper (York) Ltd., of Carr Lane, Sutton-on-the Forest, admitted causing mixed liquid wastes to leak into Hovingham Beck on May 4 last year.

The company also admitted disposing of controlled waste other than in accordance with its waste management licence.

Pickering magistrates were told fungal growths were found in the watercourse after a complaint by a member of the public.
