Guilty verdict in FMD case

DEFRA and the National Farmers' Union have welcomed a court's ruling against Northumberland pig farmer Bobby Waugh.

His farm at Heddon-on-the-Wall was the first on which foot and mouth disease was discovered, last February. He was found guilty of five charges of failing to notify the relevant authorities and two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to pigs.
