Kirkby back on top after Rosedale slip

RJF Homes Beckett League: The battle for the first division is proving to be a ding-dong affair as Kirkbymoorside reserves regained top spot after rivals Rosedale slipped up.

Kirkby went top, thanks to a 1-0 win at Sinnington. Chris Hodgson scored six minutes from time. Rosedale were beaten 3-1 at home by Aislaby United as Kenny Temple bagged a hat-trick. John Tindall was on target for Rosedale. Kirkdale Utd's top four ambitions were dented when they lost 2-1 at Union Rovers.

Old Malton 3rds drew 1-1 at home to Slingsby. Neil Foster gave Slingsby the lead on the hour, Old Malton's deserved equaliser was scored by Stuart Clarkson after 75 minutes. Wayne Dawson (Old Malton) and Adrian Holtby (Slingsby) were sent off.

Aislaby lost vital points, losing 3-1 at home to Kirkdale. Aislaby took the lead through Danny Lamb but Kirkdale equalised before half-time, when Ian Prendergast scored from a free-kick. Prendergast added a second after the break and Martin Charlton also notched.

Sinnington boosted their survival hopes with an 8-2 win at Ampleforth, thanks to hat-tricks by Lee Mitchell and Rob Atkinson. An own goal and a Stuart Wilkinson effort completed the scoring for the Sinners. Dave Wallinger and Joe Casey scored for Ampleforth in the second half.

In the second division, a rare goalless draw was played out between Ryedale Sports Club reserves and Thornton-le-Dale - a typical end-of-season game both camps agreed. Man of the match winners were Darren Kendrew (Dale), and Phil Hutchinson (Ryedale).

In the first division midweek games, Kirkdale United beat Black Swan, Pickering 3-2. Ian Prendergast and Chris Simpson put Kirkdale 2-0 up before Swan stormed back with goals through Simon Dale and Marc Dobson. But a second Chris Simpson goal in the last ten minutes won it for Kirkdale.

Aislaby won 3-1 at Sinnington. Kenny Temple put them 1-0 up but Rob Atkinson equalised before half-time. Aislaby got on top in the second half with goals by Colin Frank and man of the match Kenny Temple.
