Second class travellers

FREE nationwide bus travel maybe here sooner than some Ryedale Travellers could hope for. April 8-14 will see a week of campaigning by the NPC (National Pensioners Convention) - Britain's largest pensioner organisation. The postcode lottery will be highlighted.

Whilst travel is a bone of contention to us all, especially in Ryedale, older people in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland will all benefit by October 2002 with free bus travel, leaving England's pensioners as second class travellers.

Our MP, John Greenway, has had his attention drawn once again to the NPC campaign, and over 60 MPs have signed EDM 753.

Support NPC's campaign. Write to the transport minister, the Rt Hon John Spellar MP, supporting the case for a nationwide free bus travel scheme, as an amendment to the Travel Concessions (Eligibility) bill currently proceeding through parliament.
