Worshippers gather at Ampleforth

More than 800 worshippers from churches across the Diocese of York met at Ampleforth Abbey to celebrate the Archbishop of York's "Living Gospel" initiative.

The visitors, who were mostly from the Archdeaconry of Cleveland, were welcomed by the Abbot of Ampleforth, Rt Rev Timothy Wright as "brothers and sisters in Christ."

The Archbishop of York, Rt. Rev Dr David Hope then delivered an address in which he encouraged parishioners to work hard for the gospel, however isolated the sometimes might feel.
