INTERNET-surfing farmers can now apply for new cattle passports on line.
The launch of the Cattle Tracing System (CTS) Online will also allow farmers, cattle markets and slaughterhouse operators to view the data held on their cattle.
The new services are just the first phase of making the CTS accessible over the internet. Further phases will offer online registration of cattle movements and special access facilities for markets.
Letters have been sent by MAFF to all cattle keepers to let them know how they can use CTS Online.
The BCMS Helpline is currently taking enquiries on the Cattle Count 2000. Those with enquiries on CTS Online may send an e-mail to ctsonline@bcms.maff.gsi.gov.uk.
