Forward on February 15 were 277 finished cattle including 43 young bulls; 4,950 finished sheep including 4,658 hoggets and 292 ewes; 910 finished pigs including 95 sows/boars.

A slightly larger entry of clean cattle met a mixed trade with better quality handy-weight cattle slightly firmer on the week.

Sheep: hoggets, light to 107.4p (238.7p), standard to 122.8p (272.9p) av 112.6p, med to 127.3p (287.9p) av 116.2p, heavy to 125p (277.8p) av 114.4p, overweights to 115.1p (255.8p) av 108.5p; ewes, light to £28 (£21.67), heavy to £56 (£37.35), Suffolk to £56, Cont to £51.50, Mule to £43.50, blackfaced to £41, Welsh to £32, Swales to £22. A slightly larger entry of sheep were a very similar trade.

Pigs: porkers to 95p (84p), cutters to 88p (81.5p), baconers to 87.5p (78.8p), overweights to 82p (63.9p), sows/boars to £152.28 or 47p (42.7p). A much improved trade, particularly for heavier animals.

YORK

Forward on February 15 were 274 accredited cattle including seven accredited dairy cattle, 45 calves 173 stirks, 44 store cattle and five cows and calves; 791 store sheep; 690 store pigs.

Pigs (with prices to £71): 8-10 weeks to £38 (£34.28), 10-12 weeks to £45.50 (£40.99), over 12 weeks to £71 (£48.29).

Forward on February 19 were 393 cattle (including 174 young bulls); 1,805 sheep (including 234 spring lambs); 794 pigs (including 67 sows and five boars).
