Win for Whitby

Gainsborough Trinity 1 Whitby Town 3

WHITBY Town moved up two places in the league when they visited Gainsborough Trinity and won 3-1, ending the home side's unbeaten home record which dates back to September 23.

Gainsborough Trinity took a deserved lead after 17 minutes when a through ball by Lee Ellington found Gavin Bassinder who scored at the far post, forcing the ball past David Campbell. Lee Ludlow equalised for Whitby after 39 minutes.

The second half saw Whitby get on top after Campbell had saved well from Watts. Whitby went on to win the game, scoring twice in a minute (their seventh away win of the season) with goals by Tony March in the 69th minute - following a Lee Ludlow free-kick - and Graham Robinson with a diving header.

On Saturday, Whitby entertain Hyde United, kick-off 3pm, and on Tuesday, February 6, Blyth Spartans visit Whitby in the League Cup.
