Toms passing is a sad day to all of his family, friends and colleagues, however I feel that we should remember all of the many good times we spent with this truly genuine gentleman. Tom would do anyone a good turn wherever it was possible and in the 30 plus years that I knew him I cannot remember ever having a wrong word with him in all that time (quite remarkable for a father in law!). Tom was a really special grandad and had recently continued this love and sense of fun with his two great grandchildren – I know that he will miss beating them at Merrills. Tom had a whole range of varied interest’s including British motorcycles (and the odd Harley), his allotment and growing many prizewinning flowers and vegetables, vintage tractors and quarry equipment. He was also keen on football, bowls, snooker, golf and many other sports – having played many of these locally over his lifetime.
I am just one person, who can honestly say it was a pleasure knowing Tom, I am sure there are many others with the same sentiments.
