THE Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival rolls on to Catterick today and North Yorkshire trainers Dandy Nicholls and Mark Johnston are fancied to figure among the winners.

Nicholls, based at Sessay near Thirsk, can score with nap selection Cahal in the August 15th Is Ladies' Evening Handicap.

The three-year-old is already a winner on this course, over seven furlongs. But he has shown equally good form over today's distance of six furlongs, including when fourth at Ripon last time out. Cahal is well drawn in stall one and with trainer's son Adrian Nicholls in the saddle, the three-year-old can show his rivals the way home.

Johnston, pictured, saddles Midlander in the Pin Point Recruitment Nursery Handicap and the juvenile is expected to relish the step up to seven furlongs.

The son of Shamardal has had two outings over six furlongs, finishing second at both Yarmouth and Lingfield, and a more recent one over an inadequate five furlongs at Chester, where he finished a close-up sixth.

This extra distance should eke out further improvement in Midlander, who has shown enough overall ability to defy top weight in his first handicap assignment. Joe Fanning has the mount.

Fanning and Johnston can also lift the opening British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes with Summer Times.

The colt left the impression he was a winner waiting to happen on this course three weeks ago when he narrowly failed to beat the more experienced Tachophoba after looking green through the race. He will be wiser this time and will be hard to beat.

Cruisetothelimit promises to be hard to beat in the Skybet Supporting The Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival Handicap over the minimum trip.

Trained by Ian Williams, who sent out a winner at Redcar on Sunday, Cruisetothelimit failed by only a nose to bet Rich Again in a thrilling finish at Haydock last weekend.

Five furlongs on fast ground are ideal for this hardened sprinter and although he faces tough opposition from the likes of Silvanus and Megaleka, he is selected to oblige in the hands of Graham Lee.

Patrona Ciana (3.50) and Tinseltown (5.20), a previous course and distance winner, are two others to note on the Catterick card.

At Sandown's evening fixture, Norton trainer Julie Camacho sends Tom Sawyer to contest the Jessie J Here 7 August Handicap.

Megan Carberry is booked to ride the sprinter, a course and distance winner who went down by only a neck at Hamilton on his latest start three weeks ago. He commands every respect.

Paul Hanagan could enjoy a lucrative evening on the Esher track. He rides the promising Azmaam in the British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes and also Gambol in the Tom Jones Here 30 July Handicap.

Azmaam, trained by Richard Hannon, finished second at Newmarket on his debut and may just have the edge over Sir Michael Stoute's Darshini who has a similar profile, while Gambol, trained by Barry Hills, was a winner at Doncaster last time.

Stoute can still get on the scoresheet, not matter what the fate of Darshini. He can score with Matravers (6.35), a Leicester winner last time out and open to plenty of improvement, and Provenance (7.45), a Kempton winner on his debut and a beaten favourite when third at Sandown last time. Significantly, he is wearing a hood for the first time. Ryan Moore rides the Stoute runners.
