THE Frankel colours of Prince Khalid Abdulla are fancied to be firmly to the fore in the feature race at Pontefract this afternoon.

Pavlosk, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, holds a leading chance in the £40,000 Weatherbys VAT Services Pipalong Stakes with Abdulla's retained jockey James Doyle in the saddle.

The four-year-old has been pretty highly tried in her career since winning her first two starts last year. But her latest effort when finishing fourth in Group 3 company at Lingfield nine weeks ago, augurs well for her chances in this Listed contest.

Stoute's horses have struck form with a vengeance in the last month or so and Pavlosk commands plenty of respect after making the journey from Newmarket.

Doyle can also lift the Hilco Appraisal Handicap on Tower Power trained by Ismail Mohammed.

The three-year-old won nicely at Ripon last month and remains on a useful mark here after being raised only 5lb. He should go well.

Joe Doyle, a 7lb claiming apprentice and no relation to senior rider James, can also make an impact at Pontefract.

The teenager, a very able rider, teams up with nap selection Miami Carousel, trained by his North Yorkshire boss John Quinn, in the Dianne Nursery over six furlongs.

The juvenile has yet to get his head in front, but he has finished third in all his three starts in maiden company, most recently at Hamilton last month. Miami Carousel gets a handy weight pull from the three previous winners in this field and Doyle's claim makes him look even more attractive on his handicap debut.

The King Richard ll Stakes, which boasts £12,000 in prize money, offers Boy In The Bar an opportunity to post a Pontefract hat-trick.

Having broken his maiden on this course last month, David Barron's three-year-old followed up in good style in handicap company here last week. He has more to do under a 6lb penalty this afternoon, but he is fancied to win, probably at the main expense of Misplaced Fortune. Nigel Tinkler's mare suffered a nightmare run on this course when badly hampered before finishing third last week. She has winning track form and should go well with Silvestre de Sousa back on board.

Tim Easterby has good prospects of a double with Storyline and Street Boss.

Storyline, a Redcar winner two outings ago, ran well in defeat when a close up fourth on the same course last time. She should go well in the Colliers International Asset Advisory Handicap.

Street Boss turns out quickly in the Pontefract Sports & Education Foundation Handicap after finishing second to Eddiemaurice at Beverley on Saturday when he encountered all sorts of trouble in running. He has five lengths to find on the winner, but Eddiemaurice now has a 6lb penalty and, it's to be hoped that Street Boss can have a clean shot this time around.

At Lingfield, Ryedale-born Cam Hardie can continue his excellent summer with a victory on Seamster in the Bet Now At 32RedSport.com Claiming Stakes.

Hardie, whose father Willie is head-lad at Tim Easterby's Great Habton yard, is attached to Richard Hannon's yard and has had a heap of winners lately, including a double at Doncaster last Friday. Seamster was a handicap winner here three weeks ago and is entitled to make a bold bid in this claimer.

Black Minstrel (3.15), who returned from a lengthy absence to win on this course earlier in the season, and Meeting Waters (4.15), who made an encouraging return to action when second at Leicester, are also worth noting at the Surrey track.
