ADAM FISHER took his 2014 tally over the 400 mark already as Sheriff Hutton Bridge enjoyed victory in a Hunters York & District Senior League run-fest at Dunnington.

Unbeaten SHB remain third in the premier division as the top two Woodhouse Grange and Easingwold also both won but their unbeaten record remained intact despite being set a tricky target by the home team.

Dunnington posted a first innings score of 224-5, a total based on a 119-run stand between Jack Bolam (82), who fell in the penultimate over, and Adam Sutcliffe (52). Kev Bradley (32) and Dan Barrett (25) had already made decent runs.

The Bridge’s reply was given a sound start in an innings reduced to 47 overs under the new rule. Openers Paul Oldfield and Dave Bradshaw posted a century stand before the latter fell for 60.

Oldfield moved on to 79 before being the second of the two wickets to fall, while the division’s leading run-scorer Fisher made an undefeated 68 as the Bridge won with overs to spare.

In mid-table, Stamford Bridge fell six runs short of victory as they lost a lower-scoring game at home to Clifton Alliance.

John Gilham’s 71 proved vital for the visitors as they were bowled out for 149, Dominic Rhodes claiming 4-38.

Rhodes made 25 in reply, as did D Harper 25, but Rich Carroll’s 5-40 was the clincher as Stamford were all out for 143.

The big derby in division one went to form as promotion-seeking Pickering emerged with a comfortable eight-wicket win from their trip to lowly Malton & Old Malton.

The hosts were rolled over for only 89 as Tim Whincup took 4-12 in seven overs and Mike Brown 3-25.

Chris Nicholls (37) and Dave Greenlay (33) were the only two wickets to fall when the Pikes replied but their contributions were decisive.

Folkton & Flixton were probably grateful when their match at Goole Town ended early due to rain.

Lowly Goole had made 200-3 through Jake Mahoney (64), Neil Foster (50) and Olly Sugden (49), and then had Flixton in bother at reached 46-3 when the abandonment came.

Hovingham II are now only four points off runners-up berth in division four central after they beat Cawood II while second-placed Civil Service Ii were losing to Copmanthorpe II.

Richie Brown top scored with 51 in a good team batting performanace for Hovingham, who totaled 205-8 as four other batsmen made decent scores.

One of these was George Wainwright, who followed his 27 with 4-12 as Cawood fell to 86 all out. For Cawood, Nigel Bartram made 40 and A Jepal took 4-32.

Former Folkton & Flixton and Sheriff Hutton Bridge player John Sowden hit an unbeaten 60 for Sheriff Hutton II at Huby II. Rob Tetley supported with 46 in a total of 185-5.

However, this target proved to be no problem for Huby, whose Sam Peel, with just six league runs prior to this innings, cracked an unbeaten 111 to take them to a six-wicket victory.

Stillington II took themselves off bottom place when they defeated Duncombe Park II by six wickets thanks to a great extent to the all-round efforts of Murray Coyle, on loan from Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Coyle took 5-31 as he and Josh Moate (3-25) dismissed Park for 118. He then followed with 25 as Jason Dale made 28 and Dave Jarvis 31 not out in a six-wicket win

• There was a remarkable feat at Patrington in division four east where Brandesburton bowler Chris Fisher took 10-6 in a spell of 11.4 overs which included six maidens. All 10 victims were bowled out, with Fisher completing a hat-trick when he removed his 10th victim. It didn’t top the league’s bowling record, though, as Steve Beales took 10-5 for Huntington versus Carlton Towers in division six in 2004.
