ALL-ROUND strength by Acomb dented the York & District Senior Cricket League division one promotion hopes of Bridlington.
Acomb posted 232-5, which proved considerably superior to Bridlington’s unimpressive 91 all out.
Four Acomb batsmen made similar scores with Joe Dale’s unbeaten 46 being marginally the best.
He was closely followed by Paul Hemingway’s 44, Andy Tute’s 43 and Matt Dale’s 37 as Acomb (30) beat Bridlington by 141 runs.
Simon Leeson took 4-43 for the Seasiders, then Andy Leeson made 28no when his side replied. But Mark Bell’s 3-30 played a good part in bowling Brid out.
Pickering travelled to Malton for a derby and emerged with a comfortable eight-wicket win.
Malton were rolled over for only 89 as Tim Whincup took 4-12 in seven overs and Mike Brown 3-25.
Chris Nicholls (37) and Dave Greenlay (33) were the only two wickets to fall in the second innings but their contributions were decisive.
Struggling Selby claimed a valuable 27 points when they had the better of a draw at Bolton Percy.
Matt Clarke hit an unbeaten 77 and Lee Wild 56 as Selby reached 205-8. Andrew Brewster took 4-55 then saw team-mates Buddhi Mirando make 28 and Joe White 32. But Mike Smales claimed 4-31 as Bolton hung on to draw at 169-9 and bag 12 points.
The clash between the top two ended in a draw with leaders Heworth taking 26 points and Sessay 19.
Neil Johnson was Heworth’s top scorer with 52 and he had good support from Steve Baxter 31 and Rich Walton, who struck 29 of the 194 total. Matt Till took 3-30.
After the break Jamie Spencer made 28 and Tim Hall 58, but Sessay were reduced to 176-9 as three Heworth bowlers each grabbed a trio of victims.
Graham Knott’s 3-11 was the best return, while Sam Lingard had 3-39 and Dan Walton 3-43.
