CONEYSTHORPE won the Yorkshire Seniors Table Tennis Club competition in Hull.

The Ryedale side defeated Leeds 6-3 and Dewsbury 5-4, before they beat Hull 5-4 in a pulsating final.

Martin Lowe won seven out of his nine sets, with the two he lost both going to five games.

Ashley Hodgson won five from nine, and 15-year-old James Rule won four from nine.

The triumph came hot on the heels of Coneysthorpe 'A's division one title triumph in the York & District Table Tennis League.

The team won 19 and drew one of their 21 matches to finish 16 points clear of runners-up York RI 'A'.

Coneysthorpe 'B' finished third a further 32 points adrift with a record of played 21, won 12, drawn two and lost seven.
