THE ACHIEVEMENTS of art students at Malton School was recognsied in an annual exhibition.

Pupils studying at GCSE, AS and A level display examples of their work with a variety of subjects and mediums.

The exhibition also included the presentation of the Emma Howard Memorial prize which recognises the student in Year 13 who has made the most progress over the duration of the course to Hettie Carter.

Head of art, Jo Harmon, said students at Malton School were imaginative, original and very hard working.

"Our AS and A Level students are able to use our facilities as a springboard for developing their creativity and dexterity and any go on to take Art and Design at a higher level," she added.

"Themes are developed through critical analysis and firsthand observations in the sketchbook and the emphasis is often on inventive and expressive use of media. We are very proud of their achievement. "
