TWO homes in North Yorkshire have been badly damaged after a blaze in the roof of one of the houses spread to the roof of an adjoining property.
Crews from Filey, Scarborough, Sherburn and Pickering were called to reports of a roof on fire in Moor Road, Filey, at 6.55pm yesterday.
It involved a semi-detached house along with the adjoining property which the fire had spread to through the roof.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire fire service said: "There was 100 per cent fire damage to the roofs of roofs of both properties and severe damage to the first floor of both. There was also water damage to both."
He confirmed no-one was injured.
Crews used main jets, breathing apparatus and an aerial ladder platform as a water tower to put out the blaze.
The fire service said the cause of the fire is not confirmed but believed to have originated from the flue of a log burner.
Further fire investigation is to be carried out in daylight hours.
