A WOMAN was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a crash on the A169 yesterday.
Emergency services were called at 7.50am to the scene near the Fox and Rabbit pub, on the moors north of Pickering, where a collision had occurred between a car and a cattle truck.
Fire crews from Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Malton attended.
A fire spokesperson said that one female passenger was trapped in the car on arrival of crews.
Firemen had to cut the roof off the car in order to extricate the woman from inside.
They added that the woman "sustained serious head injuries and was transported to hospital via road ambulance."
