A £500,000 investment at Malton School has created a state-of-the art facility for students.

The design technology suite has been completely transformed with new machinery, ICT room, work benches, tool cupboards and display areas. The work was commissioned and funded by North Yorkshire County Council.

Mark Whitaker, the school's head of design technology, said: “We now have both traditional workshop facilities alongside the latest modern equipment installed across the suite.

“It’s a multi-purpose workshop and ICT suite with the most recent modern day technology. The computer-aided design and manufacturing area will allow students to design on the computer and will prepare them for a more realistic career in design and manufacture.

"The new suite is a fantastic and inspiring learning environment. The quality of student work in these subject areas is already high.

"These new facilities will only help staff and students take it on again to another level as well as being an inspirational space for students to display their work.”
