A MOTORCYCLIST has been seriously injured following a collision with a car.

The accident happened on the B1257 between Helmsley and Chop Gate in North Yorkshire, at Newgate Bank on Thursday, August 18.

At about 6pm a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle and a silver Chrysler Voyager collided on a bend.

The motorcyclist, a 46-year-old man from Stockton-on-Tees, had been travelling from Stokesley towards Helmsley with a group of other riders when the crash happened. The Chrysler had been heading in the opposite direction at the time.

The man on the bike suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The occupants of the Chrysler were uninjured.

Police would like to speak to anyone who say any of the vehicles leading up to the collision and to anyone who witnessed the collision itself.
