CEDARBARN Farm Shop & Cafe near Pickering has been crowned "Best of British" at an annual awards.

The family-run business was named as one of the winners at the seventh annual Red Ribbon Awards in London.

Hosted by Family Business Place, the awards seek to recognise and honour some of the most innovative and longstanding family businesses around the UK.

Cedarbarn Farm Shop & Café were crowned winner of the Yorkshire Bank Best of British award.

The judges said: “For more than 100 years this family has grown a strong identity, evolving into an iconic local feature in the Northern community. They are passionate about British local and home-grown produce.

"They’re committed to supporting the local community, creating jobs and sourcing local produce in the area from businesses throughout Yorkshire. From a farming background four generations of Avisons have built this business into a fresh and tasty showcase of the best British produce.”

Mandy Avison, who runs the business alongside husband Karl and daughter Chloe, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have won this award, honoured to have been in the company of some iconic national businesses such as Walkers Shortbread and so proud of Chloe who was also a regional finalist in the One to Watch category - particularly as these awards recognise the thing most precious to us: our family as well as our extended family the amazing Cedarbarn team.”
