ALED Jones has been announced as the guest soloist at this year’s Castle Howard Proms Spectacular.

The singer is currently celebrating after spending his third week at No1 in the UK Classical Charts and scoring his highest ever position in the UK Official Charts at No3 with his new album release ‘One Voice’. He is currently the highest charting British male classical artist in a decade.

Promoter Rob McIntosh said: "We are delighted to be able to announce such a fantastic soloist onto this year’s programme. He will be forever remembered as one of the world’s most successful boy sopranos and will bring a real operatic feel to the concert."

Aled will be singing with the English National Orchestra as part of the Proms Spectacular concert on Saturday, August 20.

He said: "Castle Howard is one of my favourites. You get a bit of everything there from the greatest opera hits like Nessun Dorma to the join-in songs such as Land of Hope and Glory. It's always a huge pleasure to sing there.

"As you look out over the crowd whilst sharing the stage with a symphony orchestra you can see some serious candlelit dinner parties going on. It can only happen in a field in Yorkshire."

Joining Aled on stage will be conductor Jae Alexander and soprano Janet Mooney, who is making a welcome return to Castle Howard. This outdoor picnic concert celebrates the best of British with a dramatic firework finale.

The Proms Spectacular is the second concert to be announced, as legend Sir Tom Jones will be returning to Castle Howard on Saturday, July 16.

Tickets are now on sale and are priced £27.50 for adults and £15 for children - available online at www.maconcerts.co.uk
