A RANGE of different characters will be on display in Slingsby this weekend as part of the village’s scarecrow trail.

More than 30 scarecrows are expected to be entered in the annual competition which raises funds for the Friends of Slingsby School.

Chairman Rebecca Palmer-Bunting said: “The Scarecrow Trail in Slingsby is something that all members of the family can enjoy, kids, parents and grandparents.

"Villagers and schoolchildren put such a lot of hard work into their scarecrows and having had a sneaky peak at a couple of them it is safe to say this year’s will not disappoint.”

Trails are available for £2 from Robin Hood Caravan Park, Tony’s Village Shop, The Grapes Inn and Slingsby School Reading Rooms, from noon on Saturday until 5pm on Monday.

Refreshments will be available from noon to 4pm in the School Reading Rooms on both days.

This year, there will be a £10 voucher prize draw for all those who vote for the winner of the competition
