A SCAFFOLDER had to be rescued by firefighters when he fell 10 metres through the roof of a building site.
Crews from Sherburn fire station, were called to the scene at an industrial premises on St Hilda's Road, Sherburn, near Malton, at 2.15pm on Wednesday when the builder stepped on a skylight and plunged through the hole, landing between two coils of sheet metal weighing between eight and 10 tonnes.
A crane removed the coils, allowing fire crews and paramedics to access the man.
Firefighters assisted the ambulance crew with bringing the man to safety where he was stabilised and taken to Hull Royal Infirmary's trauma unit by air ambulance suffering from internal injuries.
