STAFF and residents at a Norton care scheme have celebrated the project’s fifth anniversary.

Deansfield Court is a 50-apartment extra care scheme offering people over 55 their own apartment alongside the help of an onsite care team. It celebrated the occasion with live music, cake and games.

Residents, staff and guests also used the event as a chance to look back over significant milestones at the site over the past five years.

Linda Addis, Yorkshire Housing’s independent living service manager, said highlights included the opening of the on-site library and the garden being named as Yorkshire Housing’s Best Communal Garden two years running.

Linda said: “There is a great atmosphere at Deansfield Court and always plenty going on. The salon is also a real hit, it is staffed by trainee hairdressers who have a great rapport with customers and many residents really look forward to their trip there.”
