MALTON-born West End star Scott Garnham has put pen to paper to write this year's annual pantomime.

Performed by Malton & Norton Musical Theatre, the panto which takes to the stage next January, is Robin Hood.

Scott, a former member of the group, has performed in numerous musicals with the society and is now a rehearsing for a new musical Made In Dagenham, which opens in November at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End.

Mark Boler, from the theatre group said the last pantomime was a highly successful quality production of Dick Whittington and the society were very pleased that accomplished local director John Hall, has agreed to return and direct this brand new panto.

"John again promises a spectacular and professional show that will appeal to all ages," he added.

"It is a topical, funny and exciting original panto and the society are very proud to be performing the premiere of Scots script. Based on the story of babes in the Wood with Robin Hood as the hero and a dastardly villain the Sherriff.

The first read through of the script will be on Wednesday, August 27, followed by a further read through the following week September 3 both at 7pm.

Auditions to be held on Saturday, September 6 and Monday, September 8.

Full rehearsals will start on Monday, September 15.

Venue for all the above is The Friends Meeting House, Greengate, Malton

Mark said: " There are lots of parts in the Panto and the society is looking for talent of all ages to be in the show or if you want to be out of the limelight there is plenty of help needed back stage, front of house or in any other capacity."
