MUSIC star Tinchy Stryder helped open Flamingo Land's newest venture at the beginning of a record breaking weekend for the park.

The chart-topping grime star performed at Party in the Park and officially opened "Riverside One" - the theme park's new £4 million outdoor events arena - on Friday.

A round 15,000 people enjoyed the concert - at the time a record breaking crowd for the theme park. But that record was smashed just two days later, when in excess of 17,000 people visited the resort on Sunday, owner Gordon Gibb said.

He added: "It's gone really well - the weekend has been a big success for us. All the acts were wonderful, and Riverside One looked fantastic.

"We've has an exceptionally good summer. We have already held the first of our debriefing meetings from the concert, and what we are proposing for next year is an act of a similar quality to Tinchy Stryder every Friday night through July and August."
