DOCTORS, consultants and other NHS staff who have delivered excellent teaching and support to medical students in the York and Scarborough area have been honoured at an awards evening.
The Clinical Teaching Excellence Awards, organised by the Hull York Medical School, asked for nominations from the students themselves. with the winners receiving their awards at a special ceremony at the York Medical Society in Stonegate.
The winners of the clinical teacher of excellence award were Dr Claire Wensley, consultant paediatrician at York, Dr Rome Sigsworth, GP from Elvington Medical Practice, and Joanne Whitehead, a specialist nurse practitioner and clinical skills facilitator at Scarborough.
The administrative support excellence award went to Helen Balawajder, student liaison phase I teaching coordinator at York Hospital, while the team excellence award was won by Belgrave Surgery, Scarborough.
