Football fans prepare for England's crunch match tonight

Gazette & Herald: Malton Primary School pupils MIllie and Kyle , both aged eight, prepare for World Cup party at the school Malton Primary School pupils MIllie and Kyle , both aged eight, prepare for World Cup party at the school

AS England fans brace themselves for a must-win match against Uruguay this evening, pupils at a North Yorkshire school have been getting into the World Cup spirit by staging a Brazilian street party.

Malton Primary School will mark England's final group game against Costa Rica next Tuesday with a football tournament and penalty shoot-out followed by a themed party with a barbecue, refreshments and face-painting, and live screening of the match.

Tonight's match, which starts at 8pm and will be screened on ITV, sees the national side desperate for a victory after losing its first group match against Italy.

The bad news is that Uruguay's star striker Luis Suarez has been declared fit to play following knee surgery and is expected to start.

York's pubs and bars, such as Loop sports bar in Fawcett Street, are expecting large numbers to turn up to watch the game, even though fans can see it at home, because of the good atmosphere.

Change the record.

From this and other comments you have made, everybody knows you don't like football. Yet you still take the time to comment on articles about it.

Millions of people enjoy football. Very few will be bothered that you don't.

I've been watching football since I was 5 years old, and I'd never seen it like that before.

Thanks to you I've seen the error of my ways in listing football as an interest of mine and your comment has inspired me to ignore England's match tonight and indeed the rest of the World Cup.

Whilst 30 million of my countrymen will be glued to their screens tonight, because of you, I now will be able to get so many jobs done around the house instead of watching '22 untrained chimps.'

Thank you Chissy. You have changed my life.

Most, I would think, making more money doing something they are good at than you or I ever will.

As to untrained, you must be right. After all, they only "work" for about ninety minutes a week and even then not all year round. I doubt they do anything else with the rest of their time. Like practice or train, for example.

You'll be coming out with "uneducated" next. Before you do, ask yourself how many people you know that can talk fluently about their job in a second language.

Not to worry, though, by telling us you don't like football (again), you've got yourself noticed.

You just did. Twice. When coming out with statements like that, it's always a good idea to back them up with evidence. Are you able to supply any recent links?

While we're at it, can I remind you that calling people "chimps" could be deemed racist.
