YORKSHIRE Wildlife Trust has been awarded an extra £50,000 in funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The lottery’s support for the Trust now amounts to £475,540, helping to manage the 95 nature reserves under its care and campaign to save precious sites for wildlife.
The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT) is one of 40 charities to get a share of £2 million in extra funding recently announced by the People’s Postcode Lottery.
YWT Chief Executive Rob Stoneman thanked the lottery and said: “We have a big job on our hands to try reverse the patterns of decline in our wildlife populations and are witnessing the early impacts of a changing climate, so any help we receive is gratefully accepted.
“There is every reason to believe we can combat these losses; the benefits of connecting green spaces up to allow movement through the landscape has been shown to work.”
