PLANS to create a new lifeboat station in Scarborough have been approved by the borough council.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s plans for the new station were submitted in March, and will see a new boathouse replace the existing building in Foreshore Road.
The new building will house a new Shannon-class lifeboat, which is due to arrive in 2016.
The new station is expected to take around a year to build.
