NORTON Town Council is to extend the closure of the town’s cemetery at night for a further three months.
Councillors agreed in February to change the opening hours for a trial period after receiving an insurance claim from someone who fell over a paving slab, and after reports of dog fouling.
The town’s mayor, Councillor Ray King, said: “The overnight closure appears to be working and the amount of dog fouling has decreased enormously.
“I do feel we should come back to this in another three months, although as the light nights may bring different issues.”
Members agreed to review the situation again in September.
Opening times are 8am until dusk or 9pm and 9am until dusk or 8pm on weekends and bank holidays.
