TWO fish and chip shops are to offer customers 99p meals on May 17.
The Fisherman’s Wife in Ebor Street, York, as well as Cappleman’s Fish & Chips, in Scarborough, will be serving up 99p portions of Norwegian cod and chips on May 17 to celebrate Norway Day in the UK.
The offer will be available while stocks last. The Norwegian Seafood Council is working in partnership with 99 fryers across the UK to offer fish and chip fans the chance to hark back to the “golden era of fish and chips” and purchase a portion for just 99p.
A total of 16 tonnes of cod has been gifted to the 99 shops.
Norwegian cod is a popular choice for British chippies due to its firm flesh and flaky texture and the sustainability of Norwegian cod stocks are carefully managed in order to safeguard the fish.
