NHS Scarborough and Ryedale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will hold a second round of public meetings to give people an opportunity to hear the outcome from the urgent care consultation and discuss the next step in terms of developing a new service.

Over the past 12 weeks, the CCG has held a number of meetings, including one at Ryedale House, in Malton, and organised a survey to obtain public views towards their plans to replace current urgent care services with a new, more integrated model.

This would see the walk-in service provided at Castle Health Centre, the GP out-of-hours service and the minor injuries unit at Malton Hospital replaced with two urgent care centres – one in Scarborough and one in Ryedale. The aim is to provide a one-stop-shop for all urgent health care needs and ensure that patients receive the right care, first time.

Dr Omnia Hefni, GP and lead for urgent care at the CCG, said: “Through our survey, meetings and focus groups we’ve been able to obtain the views of about 700 local residents. We are now in the process of compiling a report which will identify the main themes and issues we will consider.

“This second round of meetings presents an opportunity for people to hear about these themes and also find out about what happens next.”

A meeting will be held on Monday, May 19, from 7pm to 8.30pm at Malton Rugby Club. Visit www.scarboroughryedaleccg.nhs.uk
