A TEENAGER is running the Kirkbymoorside 10k for the fourth year to raise funds for cancer research.
William Lyon Tupman raised over £7,500 last year by completing the race for the British Heart Foundation in memory of his parents
This time he has chosen to run for Cancer Research UK and is hoping local people will be equally supportive.
"Two of my close family members are battling cancer and I have been inspired by them to raise funds for the wonderful work Cancer Research UK does," William said.
The 19-year-old, who is a sixth form student at Ampleforth College, studying for a place at Girton College Cambridge to read Theology & Religious Studies next year, is a keen cross-country runner.
"I have stepped up my training and am running 30 to 35 miles a week and hope to complete the Kirkbymoorside 10k in 40 minutes or less," William said.
"It is a really friendly race and one I enjoy taking part in and if I can raise funds for this charity as well it will mean a great deal to me and my family."
