POLICE have appealed for help in the ongoing investigation into an assault on a man with learning difficulties.

The attack happened between 9pm and 10pm on March 16 but the culprits have yet to be caught.

The 23-year-old victim was approached near the George Hotel in Castlegate, Whitby, by a man who was verbally abusive to him then hit his head, causing minor injuries.

PC Tom Rollinson, of Whitby Police, said: “This was an apparently unprovoked attack on a vulnerable member of our community.” He asked anyone with information to contact police immediately.
