MEMBERS of Ryedale Youth Theatre are preparing to skate onto stage – but are appealing for the public’s help to provide them with boots.

The group is rehearsing for a production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express at the Milton Rooms, in Malton, in April.

Angela Kirkham-Henry, director of Kirkham Henry Performing Arts, which works with the youth theatre, said: “Although we have sourced quite a few four-wheeled roller boots from friends, parents and people looking in their lofts, we do need more, particularly adult sizes. We are willing to buy any that are in a reasonable condition.”

To help raise funds for the production, which takes place from Wednesday to Saturday, April 16 to 19, Ryedale Youth Theatre is organising an event at the Milton Rooms featuring The Jive Aces.

The Britain’s Got Talent stars are one of the UK’s number one jive and swing band and will be appearing on Friday, February 14. Tickets are £20 and available from Malton Tourist Information Centre.

Anyone who has a pair of roller boots can phone Kirkham Henry Performing Arts Centre on 01653 693310.
