POLICE stormed a Scarborough hotel today after a guest locked himself inside one of the rooms and threatened to harm himself.

Scarborough Police rushed to the Brindley Hotel on North Marine Road, Scarborough at 8.30am after a call was made to them fearing the safety of a guest inside the hotel.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to the Brindley Hotel, North Marine Road, Scarborough, at 8.30am, following concerns for safety of a guest at the hotel.

“On arrival they located a man who had locked himself inside a room and was threatening to harm himself.”

Police officers remained at the scene until 11.45am when the man came out of the room after talking with officers.

North Yorkshire police said: “Following negotiations with specially trained officers, the man left the room of his own accord at 11.45am and is currently in police custody.”
